Nickelback is a Canadian rock band from Hanna, Alberta. Since 1995 the band has included guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist and back-up vocalist Ryan Peake and bassist Mike Kroeger. The band's current drummer and percussionist is Daniel Adair who has been with the band since 2005, replacing drummer Ryan Vikedal who was with the band between 1998–2005. Nickelback's music is classed as hard rock,[2] post-grunge, and alternative rock.[1] Nickelback is one of the most commercially successful Canadian groups, having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide,[4] ranking as the 11th best selling music act of the 2000s, and is the 2nd best selling foreign act in the U.S. behind The Beatles for the 2000s.[5][6] Billboard ranks them the top Rock group of the decade and their hit song "How You Remind Me" was listed as the top Rock song of the decade as well as the 4th song of the decade. This paean to romantic ambivalence is the fifth single from Nickelback's seventh studio album, Here and Now. The band's vocalist Chad Kroeger and guitarist Ryan Peake penned the song. It was released on August 20, 2012.
The song's music video stars Jason Alexander (George Costanza from TV sitcom Seinfeld) as a coffee shop barista who falls in love with a beautiful girl played by Brooke Burns (Jessie Owens from TV series Baywatch) and attempts to woo her with his caffeinated creations. Alexander previously featured in a couple of visuals for Brad Paisley songs, "Celebrity" and "Online," the latter of which he also directed and won the 2007 Country Music Association's Video of the Year Award.
The video's coffee ship background might be explained by the origin of the band's name: bassist Mike Kroeger's former job at Starbucks. Kroeger would frequently say "Here's your nickel back" when giving customers their change.
